"Work at Bonhays is essentially heart work...learning to softly open to the deep mystery of our existance"
The fundamental belief underpinning our work is the respect for the individuality, experience and self healing capacity of each one of us, so that we can develop an embodied approach to spirituality and life.
The opening of the heart is one of truest signposts of spiritual development, enabling joy in simple things, the capacity for honesty, greater clarity, emotional control, self-acceptance, compassion and humour.
Whilst treasuring the relevance and riches laid down by the religious traditions, that spiritual maturity is defined by finding an authentic ‘felt’ relationship to self and creation without projection outwards onto teachers, traditions or texts as authorities.
Spiritual development is a process, one that needs to be adapted to the particular make-up of the western mind; so we need to address and care for the emotional area more than is traditionally associated with Eastern practices. The work with meditation, and particularly the energywork, enables the release of inhibitive emotional blockages allowing the opening into greater depth and kindness.
Being alert to and taking care of unprocessed emotional difficulties is an intrinsic and necessary part of spiritual development and vital to protect against various types of ‘spiritual bypassing’. So that our spirituality is real, not an escape from aspects of ourselves we find difficult.
That we are part of the living earth, our ecological viewpoints and decisions are informed by this.
We need to run efficiently and profitably; any additional gain will be invested in projects and people working for a more balanced and compassionate world.
